Experimentation

We decided to go for some stargazing with our telescope on Saturday night, but were partly thwarted by horrendous traffic at 11 pm on the Lions Gate Bridge, so we ended up at Stanley Park instead of Cypress Mountain. Nevertheless, the telescope was set up and we observed Jupiter and three of its moons. I also snapped (if that is the right word for a 30 s exposure...) a shot of the Big Dipper, but it came out a little blurry.

So maybe the long-exposure thing is becoming a bit of an obsession at the moment - here's a ghost car.

We also decided to go for a walk on Sunday evening and let the flip of a coin guide us. After initially flipping four heads in a row ("head right!"), the coin took us to some interesting places in our neighbourhood. It made for an interesting walk, since without a destination, you tend to look around more and notice things that you have walked past many times before obliviously. One piece of interest was this abandoned door in a laneway.
