Summer in Australia

Well, for two weeks anyway. A very welcome break from the grey of Vancouver. Here are a few selections:

Seaford Pier

Seaford beach looks incredibly beautiful - and it can't all be due to the polarising filter.

MCG HDR

A day at the cricket (1st Test vs Pakistan) - one of the most boring days of Test cricket I've ever watched! At least the clouds let me make an interesting HDR image.

Surf Life Saving Lookout

The Surf Life Saving lookout building on the beach at Lakes Entrance is very brightly coloured.

Gummy shark heads

It must have been a good day for gummy shark fishing at Cape Conran, because there were filleted carcasses all over the beach.

Beaches, Islands and Long Shots

I'm going to start with my 30 second exposure experiments. The first one was of the western horizon with some threatening clouds a couple of hours after sundown. The second is looking southeast and I was lucky enough to capture a bolt of lightning.

Beyond the Sunset

If you look closely on the large size, there are some stars visible as well.

Starry Stormy Night

The bridge over Deception Pass is an incredible feat of engineering. I had some serious vertigo walking out onto it. This is a view from North Beach in Deception Pass State Park.

Bridge over Deception Pass

Some derelict industrial architecture on the Bellingham foreshore.

Derelict I

And finally a different take on a harbour view.
